Over the last few weeks, I have been thinking a lot about what kind of
legacy I want to leave behind. No, I haven't gotten bad news from the
doctor and I'm not being all sentimental. But my kids are getting
older, as am I, and I know what is done for God is all that will last.
Sometimes I wonder if others took a deep personal inventory of my life
and organization would they believe that I believe that last sentence.
Only what is done for God will last. What are we spending our energies
on? And for what purpose? Is it only short sighted ambitions or is it
focused on things with eternal value? Interestingly enough, it seems
that those of us who work in or around "ministry" sometimes seems to
be the ones spending the least amount of time on eternal things. I've
decided I can't do that anymore. Time is too short-for me and others.
And only what is done for God will last. People are watching. And if
you are a leader in your organization, positionally or otherwise, we
must step up. As a matter of fact, you are leading someone. You may
not know who. It may be your kids, your family, friends, or in your
organization. You're a leader, alright, the question is What Kind?
